During the private tour by comfortable air-conditioned car, you will visit Etna - the highest active volcano in Europe. This tour is private - only for your party, nobody else to ensure the highest standards for our clients. Your friendly private guide will tell you history of volcano creation, about eruptions, culture, myths, and folklore of "Mamma Etna" and Sicily itself. Driving by private car through authentic mountain villages you will visit local honey farm and taste the produce of the fertile volcano terrain, and finally reach “Rifugio Sapienza” at 2000mt. Here you can visit famous Silvestri Craters, admire unforgettable panoramas, visit shops with souvenirs of lava, refresh yourself at some restaurant or bar. Optional ascent with cable car and jeep with the authorized Alpine Guide to 3000mt. Then you will visit one of the best Etna wineries and have lunch of fresh local food with fine red and white Sicilian wines.

6 hr - Your personal tour leader will pick you up at your accommodation/port in Messina, and you will start your wonderful private travel to the highest active volcano in Europe. Driving by comfortable, air-conditioned car through the small authentic mountain villages, you will admire unforgettable picturesque views of Sicilian countryside full of oranges and lemon plantations, olives and almond trees, houses and churches built of lava stone. Enjoying amazing sea view and lava fields, you will arrive to a charming mountain town Zafferana Etnea, where you will visit local honey farm and taste the produce of the fertile volcano land - honey, olive oils, olives, wines and liquors. Then you will continue to drive up the volcano and reach the plateau Rifugio Sapienza at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. Here you can feel the exceptional atmosphere of Etna volcano, admire the lunar landscapes, see the famous Silvestri craters, visit small shops where you can buy souvenirs made of lava. Optionally, you can ascent with cable car and jeep with the authorized Alpine Guide until 3000mt for additional fee (65 Euro). After this atmospheric journey, the guide will chauffer you in relax to one of the best wineries at the foot of Etna. The owner of the winery will welcome you with a glass of cool white grillo, and you will have a tour of the estate, see how the grape is growing, and visit the cellars, while the owner explains you all about the wine making process and the history of this family run winery. Then you will sit on a beautiful terrace with an amazing panoramic view of the Mediterranean, and have traditional delicious lunch of locally produced cheeses, salami, prosciuttto, home-made sausages, cous-cous, mushrooms, vegetables, fresh bread, olives and home-made olive oil. A professional sommelier will offer you 5 glasses of Sicilian Etna DOC red and white wines. After the tour, your guide will drop you off at your accommodation or port in Messina.

Best Day of our 10 Day Trip

We booked the private Etna and Winery tour for our cruise ship stop in Messina. This was the best day that we had in our entire 10 day trip. Our guide Alberto picked us up from the cruise port and took us to taste honey and olive oils. We then went and hiked the craters on Mt Etna. He is extremely knowledgeable and shared so much about the area with us. Our lunch and wine tasting was amazing! Gorgeous views and great wine. Alberto heard my daughter mention she loved cannoli so he stopped on the way back to port so we could try Sicilian cannoli. It was such an amazing day. My only regret was that we didn't have an empty suitcase to bring home even more wine, honey, and olive oils! We would book this tour again and recommend it to anyone. Others on our cruise ship that had booked tours through other operators were very disappointed. I am so glad we found Prestelli Tours!

Great Wine and Tour

Wow - what a great way to spend the day in Messina. Marco picked us up and provided us with a fun and educational tour. He is a great driver, and really knows his Sicilian history. The winery was amazing, had excellent wine, great food and great service.

Wine tour

We had a terrific day of wine tasting at three different locations picked out by our guide Maurizio. His efforts to make our experience memorable surpassed any expectations one could have, and his connections opened up doors not normally available for a wine loving group. He is highly recommended!

Phenomenal day!

Such a personal and beautiful experience. We went to a family owned vineyard that was just stunning with a delicious meal. Icing on the cake was our tour guide, Sergio, who was so kind, patient, and knowledgeable. The volcano is a must see and I hope when we return we can spend more time in Taormina.
